Welcome to run_the_con! This is a challenge modeled on salt_burn_porn and silverbullets from the Supernatural fandom and shoot_the_curl from the Hawaii Five-0 fandom. It's like a relay race where the goal is SCHMOOPY FIC. Everybody wins!
Round three of run_the_con is now complete! We had nineteen stories in the regular round and nine in the lightning round for a total of twenty-eight schmoopy fics! In case you missed any, they're all listed below. If you enjoy them, please let the authors know. If I got anything wrong, please let me know. :)
Thank you to everybody who took part in this, as a writer or cheerleader or commenter. As for the future, I don't have any plans in regards to round four, but the next challenge I'm going to put together is wc_remix. The community is blank right now but you're welcome to follow it now so that you'll know when it's getting ready to start. :)
Title: Off The Map Author: HalfshellVenus Characters: Peter, Neal (Gen) Rating: PG Summary: A detour from an officially-sanctioned escape. Author's Notes: A late offering for run_the_con and the prompt of "Breakdown."
This is just a reminder that the Lightning Round is going on this weekend--all of the prompts from this round are fair game for fills of any length. Go play! :)
The third round of run_the_con is now complete. Thank you and congratulations to everybody who helped to make this a great challenge! For the second time, we're going to do a lightning round to give everybody a shot at all of the great prompts. I'm going to list the lonely prompts that didn't get filled at the top with the rest of the prompts below so that we can try to make sure the lonely prompts get some love.
How this works:
☆ Write fic or create art for the prompts, and post it in the comments to this entry. ☆ Everybody is welcome, regardless of challenge participation, and nobody is obligated. ☆ No minimum or maximum wordcount or size, just make sure whatever you post is somewhere in the vicinity of schmoop. ☆ Multiple fills for the same prompt are very much allowed. ☆ Any pairing or genre including gen, slash, het, poly and RPF is encouraged. Please list any necessary warnings before the fic/art. ☆ As always, you're welcome to post your work to your own journal, other communities, AO3, etc. as well.
The whole lightning round party will last through the weekend, and I'll aim to post a masterlist sometime on Monday. If you write/finish things later, please do post them! EVERYBODY is welcome to participate, whether or not you took part in this round of run_the_con. If you have any questions, please ask them in the first comment thread below (or contact me privately if you prefer).
Lonely prompts: ★ sleeping in ★ breakdown ★ out of time ★ falling softly
Title: you don't know me Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth Notes: Written for run_the_con, the prompt "You don't know me." I'm really clever at titles... Thanks: mockorange was my cheerleader when I got held at work for three hours longer than planned and realized I had about an hour to write this. She's awesome. And huge thanks to embroiderama for being an encouraging and understanding mod. This got me writing after months of being wordless. ♥
Hi everyone! The third round of run_the_con is not quite over. There are one or two last minute delights that may be coming (and those can be posted any time) but I want to give a heads-up that I'll be running a lightning round again, like we did back in April. It will start shortly after noon on Friday (EST) and go through the end of the weekend. Anything that's posted by the time I make the masterlist on Monday will be included in the masterlist.
The lightning round is run a lot like a comment fic meme: I'll post a list of all the prompts given in this round of run_the_con and anybody who wants to write fic or make art for any of the prompts can do so any post the result (or a link to it) in the comments to the entry. You can take a look at the previous lightning round to see how it worked (and how much fun it was), but these are the basics:
☆ Write fic or create art for the prompts, and post it in the comments to this entry. ☆ Everybody is welcome, regardless of challenge participation, and nobody is obligated. ☆ No minimum or maximum wordcount or size, just make sure whatever you post is somewhere in the vicinity of schmoop. ☆ Multiple fills for the same prompt are very much allowed. ☆ As always, you're welcome to post your work to your own journal, other communities, AO3, etc. as well.
Title: Amor Est Maximum Thesaurum Author:theatregirl7299 Fandom: White Collar Characters/Pairings: Neal/Peter Rating: R Word Count: 560 Spoilers: None Beta Credit: elrhiarhodan Warnings: None Summary: Sometimes the greatest treasure is not gold.
A/N: This is in response to treonb’s prompt of “blank piece of paper” for run_the_con. The English translation of the title is “Love is the Greatest Treasure.”
I tag hoosierbitch with the prompt “You don’t know me.”
Title: Old Haunts Author: elrhiarhodan Fandom: White Collar Rating: PG Characters/Pairings: Neal Caffrey, Mozzie, Reese Hughes Spoilers: 2.11 - Burke's Seven, 4.12 - Brass Tacks, 4.16 - In the Wind, S5.01 - At What Price Warnings/Enticements/Triggers: None Word Count: ~4200 Beta Credit: None, please forgive any mistakes and typos. I am sure there are plenty. Summary: Wraps up the story begun in Kinship Analysis. Reese Hughes gets the results of the DNA analysis. His brother is out there and even though there’s little more than a name, he knows just where to find him.
Author’s Notes: Written for run_the_con, Round 3, for the wonderful hoosierbitch's prompt, "Full Moon". I know this should have been less angsty and a whole lot schmoopier. I blame the season and the soundtrack playing on iTunes - Zbigniew Preisner's "The Beautiful Country".
Also, the next October blue moon (second full moon in a calendar month) actually falls on Halloween, 2020.
